Dr Fa-ti Fan
Dr Fan 是威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校歷史學博士，現任教於紐約州立大學 Binghamton 分校歷史系。主要研究興趣為東亞科技史與環境史，關注在跨文化互動、知識的權力論述、自然在不同文化權力結構下的再現 (representation)。Dr Fan 在 2004 年出版了 British Naturalists in Qing China : Science, Empire, and Cultural Encounter 一書。目前的研究計畫是當代中國的地震學和群眾科學。
- My research centers on the history of science, modern East Asia, nationalism, and imperialism. I am particularly interested in the issues of cultural encounter, knowledge translation, representations of nature, and inter/transnational cultural relations. I have published a book on British scientific encounters in Qing China and am currently working on two projects: one on the intersections of nature, nation, and international politics in Republican China and the other on science and mass politics in Communist China.開

- 關注於公民科學 (Citizen Science) 的路殺社，全名為「臺灣野生動物路死觀察網」，於 2011 年 8 月創立於臉書平台。路殺社利用公民科學與群眾外包的方式，致力於建構生態友善道路以改善野生動物路死現象 (1. 改善路死)，並以此為據，進而衍生另外3個目標，包含推廣全民關心環境議題並加入科學研究的行列 (2. 全民科學)，以減緩獲野動物路殺為初始議題，推廣民眾終身且實際參與環境學習活動 (3. 環境教育)，建立所有物種生而平等、生命等值之觀念，鼓勵參與者協助撿拾和寄送路死標本提供典藏和研究，讓已逝的生命能發揮更大的價值 (4. 珍惜生命)。

+ 德恩任職於特有生物研究保育中心，負責該中心兩棲爬行類相關研究。同時是國內臉書知名公民科學 (Citizen Science) 社團「四處爬爬走-路殺社」社長。路殺社社團廣邀民眾加入並以拍照、打卡、上傳的方式蒐集野生動物時空點位資料與照片，這個以社群媒體做為公民科學資料蒐集平台的方式，不但帶起國內生態公民科學的風潮，也引來國際間的關注與興趣。德恩除了將蒐集所得資料應用於道路生態學研究和保育，更透過跨領域多方合作方式，將之延伸用以監控野生動物重大流行疾病及環境用藥毒害監測，成為政府相關政策決定重要之依據，大大提升施政效率。

- Reptile Road Mortality focuses on applying citizen science and crowdsourcing tools to set up an eco-friendly path to mitigate roadkill challenges. Reptile Road Mortality (Taiwan Roadkill Observation Network) originated from a Facebook group of concerned citizens created in August 2011. Our overarching goal is to (1) Mitigate Roadkill. Following this main mission, we advocate (2) Citizen Science: We aim to popularize national discourse on such environmental issues and civil participation in scientific research; (3) Environmental Education: we encourage citizens to mitigate roadkill as the first step in fostering lifelong ecological interest and conservation action; (4) Cherish Life: we establish the concept that all life and species are valuable and we encourage participants to help collect and send roadkill specimens to our lab for preservation.
